Well. I should preface all of this by saying, that I may be completely the wrong person to recommend this movie to anyone in the non-a cappella crowd because I cannot relate to you. I was in a collegiate a cappella group for two years while I was at Oregon State, and we actually competed at the ICCA's.. it's a real competition, though not entirely like they presented it, but, yea. They didn't make it up for the movie.
So. There you go. With all of that said.
I laughed more during this movie than I have laughed in a long time. It was really well done. They lead you (as the viewer) through Beca's entire emotional journey from being confronted with the groups for the first time "wait, you do this on purpose?" through the ups and downs and egos and competitive natures of the group members, to a place where you can also appreciate the place a cappella has for each individual. So, skeptics? They've considered you. And I think you'll like it too.
Fat Amy. While they play her up on the previews a lot, and while she does have a lot of great one liners, she's not the only comedic relief.. the characters in the cast were all unique, and interesting, and bizarre.
Vomit. I don't understand why there was so much vomit. The only part of the movie that didn't make any sense to me, and that I felt was totally unnecessary and pretty gross, BUT, also made me laugh more than I'd like to admit. I'm just going to leave it at that.
Beca. I loved her character. I loved her journey. I loved her sass. I want to be her friend.
Jesse. All of the above. Same to him. Nicest guy award. Smart, cool, strong. Loved him.
The Treblemakers. Ha. Typical? Predictable? Completely. They made me laugh. But, that may be because I kept picturing our boys in their place..
One of my only complaints is that it's so unrealistic, and they make it look like any group of girls can just get together and pull songs (and harmonies and parts and and and) out of nowhere.. which, I suppose is the same thing they do on GLEE. And honestly, who wants to spend any portion of the movie watching realistic rehearsals over, and over, and over again.. While amazing, it's just not the way it works, but it's definitely entertaining.

The Riff-Off:
And the first time they rock it as a team:
But because I don't want to ruin anything for anyone, that's all I'm giving you. You're going to have to go and see the movie to see the rest :) SERIOUSLY GO SEE THE MOVIE! James even recommends it. You're welcome. xo
