WEDDING DIY's | CEREMONY RIBBON BACKDROP

4.24.2012

Just as a reminder... this is my inspiration photo

But.. I don't like all the different lengths of ribbon they have going on, or the scalloped edges, etc.

The bodice of my dress looks like it is made up of a bunch of different ribbons with frayed edges wrapped around and around and around... So, the backdrop I'm envisioning is partly inspired both by the dress and by the photo above.

I wasn't planning to start working on it this past weekend, but James and I were driving back from lunch and I saw a fabric store and we went in just to look and walked out with 15 yards of fabric. So. The project begins.

My Our fabric choices:

Admittedly, all I've done up to this point is cut three different pieces of fabric into 3-6 inch strips. But, progress is being made! I promise. Next weekend, I'll cut up the other two pieces of fabric as well as an old sheet set and some gauzy white curtain panels that I bought a few weeks ago.

I'm not sure if those pieces of fabric will be long enough.. the arch stands 7.5 feet tall.. so, I may have to get creative and maybe do some braiding or some knot tying to get the extra length.

So yea, overall I'm going for shades of ivory & white, and texture.. and still simple but with some depth. you know, visual interest.

And it all comes together in my mind. And it looks awesome :)
I just hope that once I start putting it all together, it will work out the way I've planned. Fingers crossed...
