WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING

12.27.2011

I found a dress! And you can't see it.. I'm sorry :)
BUT, I will absolutely share with you all of the dresses that just didn't make the cut..

We went dress shopping last Wednesday.. My intention was only to look and see what was out there. I honestly was not planning to buy a dress this early.  But, when you find the perfect one.. you can't just walk away, right? My friends Kristy & Caleb were able to come with me and I couldn't have done it without their input. We had a really great time :)

Here we go!

dress number one

this dress looked much better online. I don't know what it was, but it just seemed too "matronly", too old for me..

dress number two

I actually really liked this one.. It was the runner up. It was a convertible dress.. the skirt came off to reveal a bubble skirt! I never intended on wearing it as a bubble skirt, mind you, but I thought that maybe we could alter it, change the skirt out to a lace skirt or something simpler. But, I also really loved it with the long skirt attached. The first time I tried it on (in the pictures below), it wasn't the right size - it was too big and the skirt was hanging off. But, I still liked it..

and later, they found the right size, and I tried it on again... and I still was very torn. I definitely could have worn this dress:

dress number three

When I was browsing online, I was hoping that this would be the dress. It was the one I was the most excited about. But, once I got it on, it was just too big.. too much. Like I was a cake topper or something.

but it is beautiful, no?

dress number four

This dress was THE DRESS! so. you have to wait with everyone else. haha.

dress number five

It was fine. But there was nothing special about it. And the line of the top was a little funny. Also, how many times have you seen this dress before? 100 times. Not the dress for me.

dress number six

I liked this one too.. but it was a little too sweet. And again, there really wasn't anything special about it.. Moving on.

dress number seven

Again, it's fine. It's okay. But I don't really like the "pick-ups" and it just wasn't what I had in mind.

dress number eight

She wanted me to try on a "sheath dress".. And I hated it. All of it. Completely hated it.

and that concludes my wedding dress shopping extravaganza...

What I CAN tell you about my dress is that it is absolutely beautiful..
and the perfect combination of everything I was looking for.

It's a long dress.
IT HAS POCKETS.
It's a Vera Wang HELLO! what?!
It was totally over my budget, but we made it work and found the funds.
And, I think it was completely worth the splurge.
I can't wait to reveal it..! Five months and counting.

  2. I know. It's even worse in the photos.. Not that the angle on any of them is flattering, but when your photographer is 9 months pregnant with twins, you let her shoot from a seated position ;)

but yes.. I'm soooo glad I didn't go with any of these dresses, especially the first and the last options. bullet dodged.

  5. Funny story: That dress in the first picture is one I actually bookmarked as a promising one last night. I was a little skeptical but kind of liked the thicker straps as something different to try vs. everything else I've been looking at (which is practically all strapless). Online is deceiving! CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement, and on finding your perfect dress! :)
