Caleb: James and I spent one night in San Diego last weekend, and on the way back up stopped in Encinitas to hang out with this guy! Always so good to see you, Caleb.

James: Breakfast together at one of our favorite spots this past weekend. It's rare we get to spend our Saturdays together, so we deemed it an event worthy of celebration!

A Morning in Huntington

Last Sunday, we decided to spend the morning in Huntington Beach and meander up and down Main Street. We started off at Sugar Shack for breakfast, did a little shopping and ended up down on the beach watching the surfers as they waited patiently for good waves. It wasn't exactly warm, in fact the wind made it quite chilly. Neither one of us were really dressed appropriately. Lesson learned.

We later ended up at the end of the pier to have lunch at Ruby's Diner. I rarely drink sodas anymore, but every so often I'll order a chocolate coke because it was a favorite treat of my grandmothers. We toasted to a lovely weekend and made certain to enjoy it.

Later in the day, we stopped by my cousin's to see the progress on their new game room and have afternoon latte's, and then that night we went to my aunt and uncle's for dinner.

It's days like this one that really make us so grateful to live here. When you can drive 5 miles from home, dip your toes in the sand and feel like you're on a vacation.

+ One tip, however: If you decide to park in one of the downtown parking structures, spend three hours mulling about, and make 3-4 purchases throughout your stay, get your silly parking ticket validated. If you don't, you'll end up with an $18 parking fee. You've been warned ;)

+ Also. All of these photos were taken with my new cute camera, and are SOOC. I am so impressed with it, and so happy I purchased it. Thank you for the tip, Heather!

Promoted?

4.25.2013

I don't really talk about my work here, but I do have a day job :) Lately it's really been keeping me on my toes, which is one of the biggest reasons I haven't had a chance to update here as often as I would like. An unfortunate side effect of increased responsibilities...

At this job of mine, I've recently been promoted. The other day, as my boss was leaving, he peeked into my office and said goodbye to his "Director of Marketing & Design".

! If that isn't crazy, I don't know what is.

I still feel a bit guarded to write out the particulars, but I can say that looking back I have come a long way in the three years I've been with this company, and it blows my mind on a regular basis. I moved here because I needed a change, and this job practically fell in my lap (thanks to friends who had friends who knew friends). I started out working as an Administrative Assistant, and then I was a Webmaster (which never really felt like it fit), who became a Social Media & Marketing Specialist, who is now wearing the Director of Marketing & Design title.. At least that's what it says in our Company Press Kit.

It's one of those moments that I'm trying to savor and appreciate and wrap my head around, but it's really quite difficult to do. Thank you, job of mine. Thank you for challenging me, recognizing me, and giving me the chance to stretch myself and explore what I'm capable of accomplishing with your support and encouragement.

Cheers to another chapter!
